Tajriani Thalib earned her degree in Psychology at Makassar State University. She now lives and works in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi. She is an active performer, especially for traditional arts performances. She performed namely in The Wonderful Indonesia Festival, Bangkok, Thailand (2017) and The 3rd Erau International Folks Arts Festival (EIFAF), Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan (2013). She also partakes in various social projects such as those by Sipatokkong Community, focusing on providing assistance to kids with special needs and by Armada Pustaka Mandar, a reading movement focusing on providing books to various areas in West Sulawesi.
She is one of the three artists involved in the Residensi Kelana Sungai program and Rimpang Nusantara in West Kalimantan. Throughout the residency, she commenced a study on the belief of Dayak community in the rice goddess. The same story can be found in other areas in the country such as Mandar. Each area has its own stories or storytelling techniques. She retells the story of the rice goddess in the form of a song. Tajriani combines it with the style used within the Mandar community: toloq. Toloq is known by people of Mandar as a storytelling method. She then uses the principle of toloq to retell the story on the origin of rice according to Dayak community.
