Meliantha Muliawan, or usually dubbed as Meli, was born in Pontianak in 1992. She graduated from the Visual Arts program of Bandung Institute of Technology. Currently, she resides in Yogyakarta. A year after graduation, she began to actively explore resin as an artwork medium. She uses resin as a poetic strategy to preserve, display, and conceal the object of her artwork. Her artistic practice originates from her observation on the relationship between human and items found in daily life. In 2017, she conducted residency at the REDBASE and organized a solo exhibition titled Translucent. She won the Top 3 Finalists of Young Artist Award of Enlightenment Artjog 11 through her work titled Vague Shapes in the Light in 2018.
She employed the idea that postcard is an oft-overlooked object. She found the idea during her vacation. She discerned that postcard is no longer as functional as it was before. These days people buy postcards for collection. People rarely buy them for sending messages. She then began to collect postcards for two months. The postcards were then hardened using resin and re-painted following their original illustrations. She then folded the postcards on the point of view or the eye level portion from which the object is supposed to be viewed. The visitors were encouraged to guess the visual represented on each postcard. One notable point here is that how good the visitors could guess the visual reflects their knowledge and empathy towards tourist attractions in Indonesia.
