Bing Kalis, is Bing Lathan (b 1971 and died 2017, lived in Sanggau Kalyan’s, West Borneo. He worked mostly with drawing, black and white. He joined some exhibition such as Colours of Equator (2002), atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai Bing Lathan, Isi Kepala, Museum Gedung Kontemporer West Borneo (2008), and National Art Exhibition at Museum PTK (2015). Before he passed away, he held his solo show Taste of Various Colors at 2017.
During his lifetime, Bing Lathan created quite a lot of black and white drawings portraying a wide range of Kalimantan ornaments, life practices, traditions, and other aspects of life. He committed to bring forth his traditional culture through drawings.
Before he died, Bing Lathan was working on a private project, drawing Dayak longhouses and traditional villages along the Kapuas River. Initially, he had planned to make 15 drawings. But, after 10 drawings were completed, Bing Lathan passed away. Those 10 drawings are displayed in Biennale Jogja.
They do not only contain Bing Lathan’s concerns toward the end of his life, but also serve as important illustrations that convey the social life and tradition of Dayak people.
