Around 20 years ago, Moelyono created a work depicting Marsinah (a labor activist) which was planned to be exhibited fully in Surabaya. Unfortunately, the plan was not successful; the event was disbanded by the armed forces. Following the disbandment, the work on Marsinah was exhibited in several places in different interpretations and presentations.
Marsinah passed away over two decades ago, but her spirit stays still. She is the symbol of labor struggle. Many prevailing policies in favor of the labor are the result of Marsinah’s struggle as well.
Moelyono plans to “resurrect” Marsinah once again. He intends to highlight two things: first, Marsinah as the symbol of a never-ending struggle, as a monument. And the second, recalling how the Orde Baru (New Order) regime treated Marsinah inhumanely; she was murdered viciously.
